Namecheap sells its virtual private servers as five fixed plans, from a single-core box to a twelve-core one, all on the same platform. This page sets them side by side on the specifications and the price Namecheap publishes, so the choice comes down to how much machine you need rather than how the plans are marketed. The prices shown are the standard yearly-billing rate; the first-term discount Namecheap advertises is left out, for the reason given at the end.

The five plans, side by side

Specifications and standard price as Namecheap published them on 2026-09-24. Storage is NVMe SSD and every plan carries the same platform underneath; the differences in the table are the whole difference between the plans.

What every plan includes

The plans differ only in size. Underneath, Namecheap states the same platform for all of them:

  • Virtualisation: KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine), full hardware-assisted virtualization. This matters if you intend to run your own database or system services, which need a real kernel rather than a shared one.
  • Root access: Full root access included on every plan.
  • Operating system: your choice at setup — AlmaLinux 8, AlmaLinux 9, Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 11, Debian 12. Each is offered as a plain ("Blank") image or bundled with a control panel; the Blank image installs no panel.
  • Storage: NVMe SSD.
  • Guarantee: a 30-day money-back period.

Who manages the server

Namecheap sells the server unmanaged by default and charges for management as an add-on. The default, User-responsible, is free: you administer the box yourself. Above it, Basic at US$10.00 a month and Complete at US$25.00 a month add provider support, and Namecheap states both are offered only on the larger plans (Quasar and up). If you run the server yourself, the free tier is the one you use, and the plan price above is the whole cost.

Control panels are optional and separate

A control panel such as cPanel or Webuzo is an extra, not part of the plan. cPanel/Webuzo are optional add-ons offered from the Pulsar plan up; the Spark plan has no panel option. A Blank OS image installs no panel. Namecheap lists Webuzo from US$2.88 a month and cPanel from US$17.88 a month. If you deploy over SSH you do not need one, and choosing a Blank image keeps the server free of it.

What to check before you buy

  1. Confirm the plan size against the table — cores, memory, storage and bandwidth.
  2. Pick the operating system you want; a Blank image gives a clean server with no panel.
  3. Leave management on the free default if you administer the server yourself.
  4. Read the price you renew at, not only the first-term price (see below).

A note on the price shown

Namecheap advertises each plan with a first-term discount — for example the four-core plan at US$10.43 a month against a standard US$15.88. This page shows the standard rate, because the discount applies to the first billing term only and the standard rate is what you pay on renewal. It is the durable price, and the one to plan around.

What this page cannot tell you

  • It does not rank the plans or say which is right for you — that depends on your workload, and the table is here so you can judge it against the specification.
  • Prices are Namecheap's standard yearly-billing rate in USD as published on 2026-09-24. Monthly and quarterly billing differ, and Namecheap changes prices; confirm the current figure at checkout.
  • Specifications are Namecheap's published figures. They describe the machine you are allocated, not the performance you will see, which depends on what you run.
  • Namecheap and the Namecheap logo are trademarks of Namecheap, Inc. LocalRank is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Namecheap; this is an independent editorial comparison of their published plans.
