What you get

LocalRank is an independent Singapore publication. We write guides and comparisons about where to eat, who to hire and what to buy, and we keep a profile page for each business we feature. A profile is a clean, professional page about your business that sits on LocalRank for anyone searching for it.

  • A profile page of your own. Your business name, what you do, the area you serve, your website and ways to get in touch, written in plain language.
  • A place to be found. People who search for your business by name, or browse the category you belong to, can reach your page and then your own website.
  • Accurate details. Once your profile exists you can claim it to keep opening hours, services and contact details up to date.

Listing is free. We do not charge to create a profile, and we do not sell positions in our guides.

How it works

  1. Publish a short article. Write a short piece about your business on a page you control, such as your own website, your blog or a LinkedIn article. Include a link back to LocalRank.sg in it.
  2. Send us the link. Email [email protected] with the address of your article, your business name and website, the area you serve, your category and a contact number or email you are happy to have shown publicly.
  3. We review and build your page. A person reads your article, checks the details against your own site and creates your profile page. If we need something corrected we will tell you what and why.

This is a straightforward exchange and we say so openly: you tell your readers about LocalRank, and we give your business a profile on ours. Neither side is paying the other, and neither side is buying a ranking.

The article we need

The article does not need to be long. Around 150 to 300 words is plenty. What matters is that it is yours, that it is true and that it contains a link to the LocalRank page that features you. Here is exactly what to write and where the link goes.

A simple outline

  1. Start with what you do. One or two sentences: your business name, what you offer, who you serve and where in Singapore.
  2. Add something useful. A tip, a common mistake you help customers avoid, or how you work. Something a reader could use even if they never contact you.
  3. Mention LocalRank, with the link. One sentence saying you are featured on LocalRank.sg, with the link inside it (see below).
  4. Finish with how to reach you. Your website, phone or email.

Why we service your aircon every three months

At Example Aircon Services, we look after home and office air-conditioners across the east of Singapore. Most of the breakdowns we see start with a dirty filter or a blocked drain pipe, and both are simple to prevent. A quick filter rinse every few weeks keeps airflow strong and helps the unit run more efficiently. If your aircon is dripping water or smells musty, it is usually time for a chemical wash. We are proud to be featured in LocalRank’s guide to aircon servicing in Singapore, where you can compare local providers. To book a visit, call or WhatsApp us on the number below.

The link, step by step

  • Link to the page that features you. After we list you we send you the exact address of your page, which looks like https://localrank.sg/articles/best-your-category-singapore. Link to that address rather than only to the home page, so a reader who clicks lands on the guide that mentions you.
  • Use a standard link. A normal link that search engines can follow: please do not add rel="nofollow", rel="sponsored" or rel="ugc" to it.
  • Put it in the body, in a sentence. Not hidden in a footer, a menu or a block of links. One link is enough.
  • Write natural link text. Describe where it goes, for example “LocalRank’s guide to piano lessons in Singapore”, “our listing on LocalRank.sg” or “featured on LocalRank”. Avoid stuffing in lots of keywords.
  • Keep it live. We ask that the article and link stay up. If you move or rename the page, please send us the new address.

Here is the same link as it would appear in the page’s code, if you or your web person need it:

What we check

  • Original. Write it yourself. Do not copy it from another site or from a competitor, and do not paste text produced by software without checking it.
  • Accurate. State only facts you can support. Leave out claims such as “the best in Singapore” that you cannot prove.
  • Really about you. It should be about your business, on a page that belongs to you.

We read every article. If it is copied, misleading or not really about your business, we will say so and ask you to fix it before we create a profile.

Why we ask for an article

There are two reasons. First, an article is evidence: it shows that a real business is behind the request, in the business’s own words, so we are not building pages from guesswork. Second, LocalRank is a young, independent site that does not charge for listings, and the link is how a profile pays for itself. It helps new readers discover us, which in turn helps more people discover the businesses we feature. If you would rather not write an article, you can still get in touch and tell us about your business, but we cannot promise a profile without something we can read and check.

Who can list

Any real Singapore business can ask to be listed: shops, restaurants, clinics, tutors, contractors, studios, agencies and independent professionals. We need to be able to confirm that you exist and that you serve customers in Singapore, so a working website or a public business page is essential. We may decline a request, and we may remove a profile later, if a business is closed, cannot be verified, gives details that turn out to be wrong or removes the article it listed with.

Each business gets one profile. If you run several branches, tell us which ones, and we will advise how to show them on the same page.

What listing does not do

A profile is a directory page, not an endorsement. LocalRank’s rankings and comparisons are editorial, and nothing on this page changes that.

  • It does not buy a place in any guide or ranking, and it does not guarantee one. (Paid featured placement, described below, is separate and always labelled.)
  • It does not let you remove, edit or hide what customers say about you. You can reply publicly to feedback, labelled as the business.
  • It is not a promise of any number of visitors, enquiries or sales.
  • It does not make us responsible for your claims. Statements on your profile are attributed to you.

Links from a profile to your website are marked so that search engines do not treat them as a vote of confidence from us. Our advertising policy and editorial policy explain the boundary between the commercial side of the site and the editorial side.

A free profile is the way to get listed. If you also want more visibility, you can pay to be shown first in the guide that features you.

  • S$250 per month for each guide page. Your business is shown at the very top of the guide, before the list begins. If you are listed on four guides and want to be first on all four, that is four placements, S$1,000 a month.
  • Clearly labelled. The placement carries the word “Advertisement”, so readers always know it is paid.
  • Outside the ranking. It sits above the numbered list and never receives a rank number. The editorial list below is not changed by it, and our editors do not move anyone up or down for payment.
  • One at a time. The first slot in a guide is held by one advertiser at a time.
  • Links are marked. The link from a paid placement to your website is marked as sponsored, as search engines require.

Because it is advertising and not editorial coverage, it is not an endorsement and it does not change what we say about you. The full rules are in our advertising policy. To ask about availability for your guide, email [email protected] with your business name and the guide you appear in, or see advertising on LocalRank. Terms are confirmed in writing before anything starts.

Already listed?

Some businesses already have a LocalRank page because we featured them in a guide. If yours does, you do not need to list it again. Claim your business instead. Claiming is free, a person reviews every request, and it lets you keep your details accurate.

Common questions

Does it cost anything?

No. Listing and claiming are both free.

Will I rank higher in your guides?

No. Guides are written by our editors from public information. Having a profile does not change whether you appear in one or where.

What if I do not have a website?

Publish the article on a page you control, such as a public LinkedIn article or a business page, and tell us where it is. We still need something we can read to confirm who you are.

How long does it take?

A person reviews each request, so it depends on how many are waiting. We will reply to every complete request, including to tell you what is missing.

Can I change my profile later?

Yes. Claim it, or email us the correction. Factual errors are fixed quickly under our corrections policy.

Why does my listing have WhatsApp and Email buttons?

Where a business publishes a WhatsApp number or a general enquiries email on its own website, our guides offer a button so a reader can message it in one tap. The message is written for the reader and says which LocalRank guide they found you in, so you know where the enquiry came from. We use only what you publish yourself. If you would like a button changed or removed, email [email protected] and we will update it.

Ready? Email us your article link and we will take it from there.
