A structural engineer checks that a building, extension or alteration can carry the loads it will be given, and prepares the drawings and endorsements that authorities and contractors ask for. Homeowners usually meet one when planning a landed-house extension or rebuild, a wall removal or a mezzanine, while developers and building owners need design, supervision and inspection work. This guide profiles seven currently operating Singapore consultancies, each read on its own website and described only as that site presents itself. Use it to match a firm's stated scope to your project, then ask each one what registration it holds and what is included in a quote.

1. Stellar Structures

Stellar Structures calls itself a one-stop engineering, architecture and interior design firm headquartered in Singapore. Its engineering side covers civil, structural, geotechnical and M&E work, and its site lists addition and alteration works, new erection, renovation, landed properties, condominiums and HDB submissions among its sectors. The clients it names include builders, contractors, residential and commercial owners, management corporations and private developers. Its services page also lists periodic structural and facade inspections, fire safety certificate submissions and BIM modelling. The site says the firm is led by a registered professional engineer, and its FAQ asks enquirers to describe the scope and send any drawings or reports. It also publishes a guide on why landed owners should involve a structural engineer early.

2. ABL Consultants

ABL Consultants presents itself as a civil and structural engineering consultancy founded in 2007, and its homepage sets out ten service lines. The structures and buildings line is described as commercial, industrial, logistics, residential, institutional and addition and alteration work, alongside civil infrastructure, marine and port design, parks and water design, temporary works and geotechnical engineering. The site also lists periodic structural inspection, periodic facade inspection, drone inspection and signage design. Its portfolio pages include a terrace house and a Sentosa bungalow as well as larger public projects such as the National Stadium and HDB carpark improvement batches. Enquiries go through a published email address and office phone line, with weekday office hours stated on its contact page.

3. SMS Consulting Engineers

SMS Consulting Engineers is a Singapore consultancy whose site carries a 1999 start date, and it is linked on the page to two sister companies, SMS Design and SMS Facade. Its published project list leans toward envelope and steel work, including a curtain wall for the Duo Residences, facade and steel work at Biopolis, and a residential project on Senette Lane. The homepage points visitors to an Our Expertise section for the detail of its services, and the firm publishes a general email address, a phone line and a contact page for enquiries. Because its showcased work is facade-led, it reads as a better fit for projects where glazing, cladding or structural steel is central than for a simple home wall-removal assessment.

4. Ease Engineering Consultancy

Ease Engineering Consultancy says it was registered in 2015 and grew out of an earlier practice, Ease Consultants, which it dates to 2007. Its site describes a range of civil and structural consultancy including structural inspection, structural strengthening, basic architectural consultancy and fire safety consultancy. It also lists visual structural inspections for older buildings, facade design and inspection work, and geotechnical services such as earth retaining and stabilising structures, slopes and foundations. Named projects on the site include repair work at Kallang Riverside Park, the Pasir Ris Park mangrove boardwalk and the Botanic Gardens Seed Bank. The firm publishes a phone number, an email address and a contact page, which suits owners with repair or inspection needs.

5. CVC Engineers

CVC Engineers describes itself as a Singapore professional engineer consultancy specialising in PE endorsement and submission, and it says it is deliberately limited to civil and structural work. Its site lists PE services for residential and commercial buildings, regularisation of unauthorised structures, periodic structural inspection, temporary structures, earth control measures and fire safety submissions. It names homeowners, building owners, contractors and corporate clients as the people it serves, and an article dated 2026 says it quotes a fixed fee for each submission. Quotes are requested through a Seek Quotation form on the site, or by phone and WhatsApp, where visitors are asked to describe their situation. That makes it a straightforward starting point for owners dealing with a specific endorsement or submission task.

6. AEC Technical Advisory

AEC Technical Advisory presents itself as an integrated consultancy offering engineering and architectural management solutions, PE and QP endorsements and authority submissions. Its site lists structural, geotechnical, architectural and M&E design, and it says it serves homeowners with landed properties and addition and alteration projects as well as commercial, industrial and public-sector clients. Named services include mezzanine submissions, facade design and inspection, signage design and BIM modelling. The homepage offers thirty- and sixty-minute engineering consultations by video call or phone, which it describes as no-obligation first conversations, and enquiries can also come by WhatsApp or email. A guide to choosing a structural engineer, published in 2026, sits on the site beside its service pages.

7. PE Consultants

PE Consultants says it provides PE endorsement, qualified person submissions, structural design, temporary works certification and structural inspections. Its site names homeowners in HDB flats, condominiums and landed properties among its clients, together with developers, management corporations and contractors, and it dates the firm to 2013. A dedicated page on wall hacking describes its process as a plan review against structural records, a site inspection where needed and a signed engineer assessment letter. Homeowners are asked to send a floor plan with the relevant walls marked. The site states that two of its engineers hold professional engineer registrations, one civil and one mechanical. Enquiries can be made by WhatsApp, phone or a published email address.

How to choose

  • Start with scope, not size. A landed-house extension, a wall removal, a mezzanine and a periodic inspection are different jobs, and firms describe themselves differently for each. Compare each firm's own service list against yours, and say plainly whether you need design, an assessment letter, a submission or a site inspection.
  • Ask which professional engineer will take responsibility for your project and what registration the firm holds. Request the registration details in writing, then check them with the issuing body yourself. A firm's website describes its own status, so treat that statement as a starting point for verification rather than as confirmation.
  • Clarify what the quote covers before work starts. Ask whether it includes drawings, calculations, site visits, authority submissions, revisions and supervision during construction, and who liaises with your architect or contractor. Get the scope and the basis of the fee set out in writing so that later changes are easy to compare.
  • Consider whether independence matters on your job. Some consultancies also offer architecture, interior design or build services alongside engineering. That can simplify coordination, but ask how the engineer's advice stays separate from whoever carries out the works, and who you would contact if the contractor and engineer disagree.
  • Involve the engineer early. Sharing floor plans, existing drawings and your intended changes at the start lets a firm flag what can and cannot be altered before money is committed to design or building. Ask each firm what it needs from you, since a clear list suggests a defined process for your project type.
