AI image by LocalRankA worn corner, a faded strap or a musty lining does not always mean replacing a bag. Singapore has a small circle of specialists who clean, recolour, re-edge and stitch handbags, from heartland-mall counters to a single-room atelier. This list covers seven that publish their services on their own websites, with attributed descriptions of what each says it handles and how to start an enquiry. We have not tested any of them, and we leave prices out because most quote only after seeing the bag. Read the entries for the service types that match your problem, then use the checklist at the end before handing over something you care about.
1. Bag Artisan
Bag Artisan describes itself as a handbag and wallet care company that has specialised in cleaning, repair and colour restoration for more than twenty years. Its site groups the work into cleaning (leather, interior or a total clean), protection treatments such as colour protection and leather moisturising, repairs including edging, piping, stain, mould, odour and metal polish, and a restoration tier covering full colour restoration or a complete colour change. Its convenience lies in reach: the outlets page lists counters in heartland malls including Clementi Mall, myVillage at Serangoon Gardens, Pasir Ris Mall, Punggol Coast and Eastpoint, and says it sits alongside The Laundry Club. Quotes are requested through a WhatsApp button or by phone, and outlet hours vary, so check first.

2. Dr. Bags
Dr. Bags presents itself as a clinic for designer bags and organises its menu under four labels: ColourPro for recolouring or refreshing bags and wallets, DeepCleanse for cleaning the interior and exterior, a repair line covering hardware replacement, mended tears and replaced linings, and HP Coating, which its site describes as a breathable barrier against liquids and stains. The company says it uses Korean technology and techniques. Its site lists outlets at Plaza Singapura, Junction 8 in Bishan and The Clementi Mall, plus partner drop-off points around the island. Its six-step process starts with sending photos for a quote by WhatsApp or Instagram message, then arranging home pickup or a drop-off. The page also shows a separate Dr.Homes service for living spaces.

3. Chan Yew Leathers
Chan Yew Leathers is a leather workshop that, according to its history page, began as a handbag manufacturer in 1941 and moved into repairing branded and luxury leather goods in the 1980s. Its services page lists custom-made replacement handles and straps, new inner linings, reinforced chapes, stitching, changed buttons and studs, replaced zips and pullers, edge-paint revarnishing and torn-edge repair. It also makes bespoke exotic-leather pieces and does alterations such as shortening belts and straps. The firm says it undertakes repairs for international fashion houses and for walk-in customers, and its pages mention work with exotic skins. It operates from an industrial building on Sims Avenue, with listed weekday and Saturday-morning hours; contact is by email, phone or WhatsApp.

4. Reeluxs Bag Spa Specialist
Reeluxs runs an outlet in Tanjong Pagar and describes itself as a bag spa specialist, with its site naming houses such as Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior among those it works on. Services listed include nano cleaning and leather treatment, restoration and refurbishment, exotic-material refurbishment, handle and strap replacement, hardware re-plating and replacement, and bag design customisation. The site says every estimate follows an inspection, suggests walk-ins in opening hours, and recommends booking a consultation for restoration work. It also says it offers pickup anywhere in Singapore and invites you to WhatsApp a photo for a quote. A before-and-after section shows past cases by brand and problem, which is a useful way to judge whether your issue resembles work it has done.

5. Bags Butler
Bags Butler describes itself as a service centre for cleaning, colouring, restoring and repairing leather and fabric bags, wallets, shoes, jackets and belts, serving Singapore and Malaysia. Its pitch is a home service model: the site says it runs largely online to keep overheads down and offers pickup and delivery in Singapore with no minimum spend, so there is no shopfront to visit. Customers can place requests through the website or start with an instant consultation over WhatsApp or Messenger, which the site lists as staffed from morning to late evening. Its menus span bags, wallets, shoes and repair. It also cites media features on its homepage, which are its own claims. This suits owners who prefer not to travel with a delicate bag.

6. Honest Crafters
Honest Crafters positions itself as a restoration specialist for bags, shoes, small leather goods and even sofas and car seats. On its bags page it lists deep cleaning, mould and odour removal, handle and strap repair, edge recoating, hardware repair and gold plating, colour restoration and recolouring, lining replacement, resizing and zip repair, plus customisation. It also states that complete stain removal is not guaranteed, a useful candour. The process it describes is to photograph the item, receive a free assessment and quote, then arrange home pickup, with a Setmore consultation booking and a WhatsApp button available. A separate brand section names houses it works on, and its notebook carries dated care guides, with entries from 2025 onwards.

7. Margo & Smith
Margo & Smith is a handbag and leather goods restoration atelier on the second floor of a building on Ann Siang Road, sharing space with its sister shoe atelier Mason & Smith. Its site lists rejuvenation and maintenance, a fuller revival for worn corners and colour loss, touch-up and full recolouring with colour matching, exotic skin care, mould cleaning, edge renewal and a protective waterproof coating. The atelier says its artisans use techniques from France and Japan, that every job starts with a quote, and that nothing begins until you agree. You can walk in on opening days, send photos by WhatsApp first, or have a courier arranged. It also states a typical atelier time range and a period of free storage.

How to choose
- Match the provider to the problem. Cleaning, mould and odour treatment, colour touch-ups, edge repair and structural stitching are different skills, and some businesses lean towards one. Read each site's service list, then ask directly whether the type of damage on your bag is something they handle regularly.
- Send clear photos first. Most of these providers say they quote from pictures or after an inspection, so photograph the damage in daylight, including corners, edges, hardware and the lining. A reply that explains what is possible and what is not usually tells you more than a price figure.
- Ask about material experience. Lambskin, caviar leather, canvas, suede and exotic skins all behave differently under cleaning products and dye. If your bag is an unusual material or a vintage piece, ask the shop whether it has handled that material before and to show similar before-and-after work.
- Clarify limits and logistics before agreeing. Ask what the result may not achieve, such as complete stain removal or an exact colour match, how long the work typically takes, whether pickup, storage and return are included, and how any damage is handled. Get the agreed scope in writing, ideally by message.
- Treat brand claims with care. Several shops name luxury houses they work on, and that is the shop's own description rather than an endorsement by those houses. If warranty or brand authenticity matters, check with the brand itself first, because outside work may affect its after-sales policies.
