Labrador Park MRT sits on Telok Blangah Road with a small but useful pocket of food around it. Most of the eating is a few minutes' walk away in Alexandra Retail Centre and the office block at 991B Alexandra Road, with a couple of destination restaurants at Gillman Barracks and inside Labrador Nature Reserve. This guide leads with halal, then groups the rest by cuisine, each ordered roughly by walking distance. Halal status is checked against the official MUIS register.

Halal

Sakana-No-Suppu

✓ MUIS halal-certified

Sakana-No-Suppu is a compact Japanese soup counter upstairs in the mall, built around a light, collagen-rich fish broth with sliced fish, seaweed and fish cakes. There are also beef-soup, gyoza-soup and torched-rice bowl options, plus udon served in a bag on selected days. It suits a warm, low-fuss lunch that still feels different. MUIS halal-certified.

Heavenly Wang

✓ MUIS halal-certified

Heavenly Wang is the halal take on the old-school Singapore kopitiam: kaya toast, soft-boiled eggs, kopi and teh, plus a longer menu of buns, noodles and rice plates for later in the day. The mall branch is an easy, air-conditioned stop for breakfast, a light lunch or a coffee break, and it works for mixed groups who want familiar local flavours. MUIS halal-certified.

Encik Tan

✓ MUIS halal-certified

This branch of Encik Tan gives halal diners a mini food court of Chinese-style comfort dishes under one roof: Hainanese curry rice, wanton noodles, ban mian, claypot rice and similar favourites cooked with halal ingredients. It is the nearest sit-down place to the station for dishes usually found at Chinese hawker stalls, and the mall setting keeps things cool and quick. MUIS halal-certified.

Stuff'd

✓ MUIS halal-certified

Stuff'd builds kebab wraps, burritos, quesadillas and rice bowls to order, letting you pick the base, protein, vegetables and sauces. It's a handy grab-and-go option for office workers and anyone who wants something quick and customisable, with a small seating area in the mall if you prefer to eat in. Portions are wrap-and-bowl sized, not banquet sized. MUIS halal-certified.

The Soup Spoon

✓ MUIS halal-certified

The Soup Spoon is a Singapore chain that sells soups in a range of flavours alongside baked rice, pasta, salads and sandwiches. It is a practical choice for a lighter lunch or a warm bowl on a rainy day, with vegetarian-friendly soups on the menu and set meals that pair a soup with a side. The mall outlet sits on the ground floor. MUIS halal-certified.

Japanese & Korean

Himawari Japanese Restaurant

Himawari is a long-running Japanese restaurant that runs an order-as-you-like buffet with sashimi, sushi, tempura, grilled dishes and donburi, alongside a la carte sets and shabu-shabu. Dishes are brought to your table rather than picked from a counter. It's a sit-down group option in the Alexandra Road block, so booking ahead for weekend meals is sensible. Not MUIS-certified.

Reply K1988

Reply K1988 is a Korean charcoal barbecue restaurant themed on 1980s Seoul, with retro window decals, private dining rooms and a self-serve banchan station. Sets of beef, pork and chicken are grilled at the table by staff, and the menu also carries stews and offal dishes such as a spicy octopus-and-prawn jeongol. It is closed on Sundays. Not halal-certified.

Chinese

Hundred Grains

Hundred Grains is a self-service, pay-by-weight Chinese eatery: you pick from dozens of hot dishes drawing on Sichuan, Hunan and Cantonese cooking, while rice, soup, drinks and dessert are free-flow. Meats, fish, vegetables and egg dishes are laid out together, so it's easy to build a shared plate. It suits big appetites, though weighing dishes means the bill varies by what you pile on. Not MUIS-certified.

Qin Ji Rougamo

Qin Ji Rougamo specialises in rougamo, the Shaanxi-style stuffed flatbread often described as a Chinese hamburger, filled with braised or crispy pork and other meats. The menu also has rice-noodle dishes and set meals, and it's ordered at the counter with food served in disposable containers. It's a quick, filling stop for a solo lunch near the station. Not halal-certified.

Jia Xiang Sarawak Kolo Mee

Jia Xiang serves kolo mee, the springy dry-tossed noodle from Kuching in Sarawak, typically dressed with light sauce, minced pork and char siew and sold with soup or add-ons on the side. It's a small noodle counter in the mall, open through the day and evening, and a good pick when you want something simple and savoury rather than a full meal. Not MUIS-certified.

Thai, seafood & modern Asian

OPIO Kitchen & Bar

OPIO Kitchen & Bar blends Western technique with Asian flavours, with mains such as roasted lamb and braised beef ribs alongside seafood plates. It's a full sit-down restaurant with a happy-hour slot on weekday afternoons and a bar, so it suits after-work drinks as much as dinner. The restaurant is closed on Sundays, so check the day before you go. Not MUIS-certified.

Naked Finn

Naked Finn is a seafood restaurant in the converted Gillman Barracks, cooking fish and shellfish in a deliberately pared-back way with olive oil and sea salt. It is a sit-down lunch-and-dinner venue rather than a quick bite, open Tuesday to Saturday, and it pairs naturally with a wander through the galleries around it. Reservations are wise for evenings. Not MUIS-certified.

Tamarind Hill

Tamarind Hill serves Thai and Burmese dishes from a colonial-era bungalow set among the trees of Labrador Nature Reserve, a short uphill walk from the station. The atmosphere is the draw: a quiet, leafy setting that feels removed from the city, with lunch, afternoon tea and dinner services. It's a considered choice for a slow meal rather than a quick one. Not MUIS-certified.

Good to know

  • Almost everything close to the station is in two buildings: Alexandra Retail Centre (460 Alexandra Road) and the office block at 991B Alexandra Road, each roughly 3-5 minutes on foot. Gillman Barracks and Tamarind Hill are a slightly longer walk, and the latter is uphill.
  • The halal options are all in Alexandra Retail Centre: Sakana-No-Suppu, Heavenly Wang, Encik Tan, Stuff'd and The Soup Spoon are all on the MUIS register. There is no MUIS-certified place closer to the station than the mall.
  • The famous hawker food you may associate with the area is not in this catchment. Pasir Panjang Food Centre is a long walk west, so for it see the Pasir Panjang guide, and for VivoCity and Seah Im Food Centre see the HarbourFront guide.
  • Several restaurants keep short weeks: OPIO and Reply K1988 are closed on Sundays, and Naked Finn is open Tuesday to Saturday only. Booking is sensible for Naked Finn, Tamarind Hill and weekend buffets.
  • New tenants keep arriving at the mall, so a stall you spot there may be newer than this guide; check the certificate displayed at the counter for anything you are unsure about.
