Sourdough has moved from novelty to neighbourhood staple in Singapore, and the shops baking it range from one-oven counters to multi-outlet kitchens. This guide covers eight bakeries that say they bake sourdough, drawn from their own websites and social pages checked in October 2026. Each entry describes the breads the bakery lists and how it takes orders, as the bakery publishes them. We leave out prices because they change often. Many of these shops bake in small batches, so a loaf can sell out or need a day's notice. Read the ordering notes, then check each bakery's page for the current menu and collection days.

1. Mother Dough Bakery

Mother Dough is a bakery and takeaway counter in the Kampong Glam area. Its website groups its bakes under a sourdough heading and lists a brioche, a spelt baguette, a whole wheat, rye and spelt loaf, weekend baker's fun loaves and a seasonal flatbread, each tagged with the days of the week it is baked. Ordering runs through the site for pickup or delivery, and when we checked it was advertising a pre-order window for mid October. Gift cards are sold online, and a separate bulk-order address is given for larger enquiries. Its contact page mentions a seating area, although the homepage describes the shop as takeaway only. Check the site for the current weekly schedule before planning a visit.

2. Bakery Brera

Bakery Brera is an artisan bakery on Empress Road with a cafe at National Gallery Singapore. Its online shop lists a Rustic Country Sourdough, described on the page as naturally fermented and baked the traditional way, plus a Pain au Levain made with the bakery's own sourdough starter and a daily breads category. Customers can order for islandwide same-day delivery through the site or visit the bakery in person. The site carried blog posts dated across 2025 and September 2026 and a 2026 copyright line, so it appears to be actively run. It does not publish a general email address on the pages we read, so use the contact and FAQ page for questions.

3. Baker's Bench Bakery

Baker's Bench describes itself on its website and Instagram as 100 percent sourdough and naturally leavened, with its Instagram stating it opened in January 2020. It sits in Bukit Pasoh near Chinatown and says it bakes for self-collection and delivery. Its order page explains the process: place same-day or pre-orders through the shop link, Instagram message or WhatsApp, wait for text confirmation before paying, and give a collection date, item and quantity. It states a one-day notice for pre-orders and a longer notice for bulk orders, plus a cut-off time. The bakery lists Wednesday to Sunday opening and a hot menu until early afternoon. Its feed showed regular posts through early October 2026.

4. Marymount Bakehouse

Marymount Bakehouse calls its style neo-traditional sourdough, and its Instagram bio reads Living with Sourdough. Its online shop lists loaves such as Ah Jie's Sourdough with chilli crisp and cheese, a Marymount House Loaf, Kalamata Olive and Lemon, an Oolong Chocolate Chip Sourdough and a French Onion Soup Sourdough, alongside focaccia and savoury pies. Orders go through its online store for pickup at the Race Course Road shop or for islandwide delivery, with dates open from mid October 2026 when we looked. The bakery states it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and its Instagram lists a second address at Thomson Ridge. Its bio says it takes no reservations and is walk-in only.

5. Bake Anthem

Bake Anthem presents itself on Instagram as an artisan sourdough bakery and its online store as naturally leavened sourdough. The store lists sourdough loaves, baguettes, ciabatta and focaccia, plus some pantry items. A highlight on its feed explains that its sourdough takes roughly a day from mixing to baking and that the oven is fired once a day, which is why popular loaves can sell out. Customers first choose delivery or pickup and a date on the website. The store calls the business a Muslim Friendly Bakery, which is the bakery's own wording rather than a certification we have checked. Based around Binjai Park, it showed Instagram activity through early October 2026.

6. Micro Bakery and Kitchen

Micro Bakery and Kitchen is a small group of bakery cafes whose Instagram bio reads Sourdough and Sweet Treats. Its online store lists a country sourdough loaf, a seeded loaf, a buckwheat loaf and a monthly special, which showed as a pumpkin sourdough for October, alongside focaccia, baguette and ciabatta. Customers pick up at its Serene Centre, Tiong Bahru or Red House outlets or arrange delivery through the store, with next available dates shown at checkout. The bio indicates outlet opening days differ by location, so check before you go. Posts continued through early October 2026. The Light Deli Rye Loaf was shown as available for Serene Centre pickup or delivery only. Check the store for the current loaf list.

7. Nick Vina Artisan Bakery

Nick Vina Artisan Bakery describes itself as a maker of traditional European artisan breads, with a Rustic Sourdough Bread named on its homepage. Its online ordering site lists a Classic Sourdough under an artisan loaf category, alongside soft loaves, rolls and sweet breads, and offers pickup or delivery. That ordering site showed October 2026 dates and notes that items need two days' advance order, so plan ahead. The contact page gives two outlets, at Icon Village and Tanglin Mall, plus a separate wholesale route for businesses. The homepage also mentions awards from 2025, which are the bakery's own statements. Its footer still shows an old copyright year, so confirm opening days before visiting.

8. The Bakehaus

The Bakehaus calls itself an artisanal bakery and cafe, and its homepage says the offering runs from sourdough loaves to seasonal items, made in small batches with natural ingredients. The first shop is on Owen Road, with a second cafe at NUS The Ridge, and the site also runs a store for baking supplies. The pages we read do not describe an online ordering process, so contact the bakery through the phone number, email address or chat option the site provides to ask about loaves and collection. Its Instagram showed posts through late September 2026 and a story highlight titled Sourdough. The site lists daily opening hours for each outlet, so check them before you travel.

How to choose

  • Ask how the loaf is leavened. Some bakeries describe every bread as naturally leavened, while others use sourdough for selected loaves and commercial yeast for the rest. Read the menu wording on each site and, if it matters to you, ask the bakery which items on its list are sourdough.
  • Plan for notice periods. Several bakeries here bake small batches, run a cut-off time for pre-orders or need a day or two of advance order. Check whether you can walk in for a loaf, whether you must order online, and which days the bakery is closed.
  • Compare how each bakery sells. Some take orders through an online store for pickup or delivery, others through WhatsApp or Instagram messages, and a few mainly serve walk-in customers. Pick the route that fits your week, and confirm delivery coverage and charges before paying.
  • Match the loaf to how you eat. Country loaves suit toast and sandwiches, seeded or rye loaves have a denser crumb, and flavoured loaves with cheese, olives or chilli work better as a snack. Use each bakery's published loaf list and ask staff about flavours and slicing.
  • Ask about dietary needs directly. Allergen, halal and ingredient details are the bakery's own to state, and recipes can change by batch. A bakery calling itself Muslim friendly or similar is making its own statement, so ask what it means and request ingredient information if you need it.
