Home insurance in Singapore is sold by several general insurers, each with its own plan names, cover sections and optional extras. This directory lists nine insurers that describe a household or home product on their own websites, with notes on the cover types each names, who the page says can buy it, and how it describes its regulatory protection. HDB, condominium and landed wording appears only where the insurer states it. The order is alphabetical, not a ranking, and nothing here is advice on what to insure or how much cover to hold. Treat each entry as a summary and confirm current terms with the insurer.

1. AIG Asia Pacific Insurance

AIG Asia Pacific Insurance sells home cover in Singapore under the Homes Advantage name, which its site presents as a package version with named tiers and a customisable version. The page describes building cover, home contents, personal liability and alternative accommodation if a home becomes uninhabitable, plus optional extras such as identity fraud protection and a tenant's liability add-on. Its wording says the product is for owners of condominiums or landed homes, and for HDB flat owners who want a higher level of cover. The site also lists complimentary repair-assistance services and a separate enquiry line. It states that the policy is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by SDIC. Read the policy wording and plan limits before relying on any benefit.

2. Allianz Insurance Singapore

Allianz Insurance Singapore Pte. Ltd. is named as the underwriter of Allianz Home Protect, which its product page presents in Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers. The page describes protection for home contents and renovations against perils such as fire, theft, water damage and storms, along with worldwide personal liability, and lists optional add-ons including home appliance accidental protection and worldwide all-risks. It says the plan can be taken by homeowners, tenants and foreigners for residential premises in Singapore, and that industrial or commercial buildings are not covered. A Standard Chartered page that distributes the plan states that it is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme. Compare the wording of each tier on the insurer's own page.

3. Chubb Insurance Singapore

Chubb Insurance Singapore Limited offers home cover for individuals under the Masterpiece name, which its Singapore site describes as a home and valuables policy for people with significant assets. The page lists home and contents cover, valuable articles, and separate collections cover for jewellery, art and wine, along with personal liability. Chubb says it uses agreed values stated upfront and all-risks protection including accidental damage, and notes complimentary home evaluations by risk consultants for most properties. Quotes can be requested online or through a representative. The site footer links to the SDIC Policy Owners' Protection Scheme page and displays the SDIC logo. This product is positioned as specialist, so ordinary households should compare it with mainstream home plans.

4. Etiqa (Tiq Home Insurance)

Tiq is the online brand of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd., and its Tiq Home Insurance page describes cover for building, renovation and home contents, along with personal legal liability, an emergency cash allowance, alternative accommodation and 24-hour emergency home assistance. Optional add-ons listed include personal cyber insurance and family accidental death protection. The page names three groups of customers: homeowners of HDB, condominium or landed properties, landlords renting out residential property, and tenants in any property type. Tiq states that the policy is underwritten by Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. and protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by SDIC. Review the policy wording for exclusions, claim steps and renewal terms before you buy.

5. FWD Singapore

FWD Singapore Pte. Ltd. sells FWD Home Insurance online, and its page lists protection for home contents, building, renovations and worldwide personal liability, plus a rent protector option for landlords whose tenants default on rent. The policy wording is shown for both homeowners and tenants, and the page presents the product as sitting alongside the compulsory HDB Fire Insurance rather than replacing it. The site does not set out separate HDB, condominium and landed plan names in its summary tables, so confirm which property types and sections apply to you. The footer states that the policy is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by SDIC. A 24-hour emergency line is published for home assistance.

6. Great Eastern General Insurance

Great Eastern General Insurance Limited is named as the underwriter of GREAT Home Protect, which the Great Eastern site describes as an all-risks plan for accidental loss or damage to household contents, building and renovations. Its page lists HDB flats, condominiums and landed properties as covered property types, and says tenants can buy cover for contents only. Features it highlights include a first-loss basis intended to avoid penalties for under-insuring, 24-hour emergency home assistance, a green home benefit and a family personal accident benefit. The page says the policy is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by SDIC. Check what each benefit covers, and its limits, in the policy wording before relying on it.

7. Income Insurance

Income Insurance sells Enhanced Home Insurance online, which its site describes as a flexible plan with three protection areas: building structure, contents and renovations. Listed events include fire, burst pipes and theft involving forced entry, and the page mentions a 24-hour emergency home assistance service, family liability cover and a family personal accident benefit. Its wording refers to HDB flats, condominiums, apartments, cluster houses and landed properties such as bungalows, semi-detached and terrace houses. Owners and co-owners, mortgage lenders and tenants can apply, with tenants limited to contents and renovations. The page states that the product is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by SDIC and mentions a free-look period. Read the sections that apply to your tenure.

8. MSIG Insurance (Singapore)

MSIG Insurance (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. lists two home plans on its website: Enhanced HomePlus and HomeEasy. Its HomeEasy page describes cover for home contents and renovations, worldwide personal liability, personal cyber protection, emergency home assistance and alternative accommodation or loss of rent, in Silver and Gold tiers. The site says HomeEasy is designed for HDB and private apartment owners, landlords and tenants, and that tenants are not covered for renovations under it. Enhanced HomePlus is shown as the second option, so read its own page for the cover sections and plan tiers it lists. MSIG's footer links to the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme. The site also offers an enquiry form, live chat and an SMS line. Compare the two plans on the insurer's own pages.

9. Sompo Insurance Singapore

Sompo Insurance Singapore presents two home products on its site: HomeVital, a named-peril plan covering insured events such as fire, flood, theft with forced entry and burst pipes, and HomeMax, described as an all-risks plan for accidental loss or damage. Both are listed as covering building structure, renovations and contents, with liability protection and extras such as debris removal, temporary accommodation costs and 24-hour home assistance. The page says cover is open to property owners, co-owners, mortgagors and tenants of a residence in Singapore used solely as a private dwelling. It explains how HDB fire insurance and condominium management cover differ from personal cover. The footer displays SDIC membership. Check which perils each plan names before comparing.

How to choose

  • Confirm that the company is a licensed insurer in Singapore and check how its own site describes protection under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme. You can also look the insurer up in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory. Be wary of anyone offering cover through an unfamiliar name, and check that the policy is issued by the licensed entity.
  • Read the policy wording, not just the product page. Look at what the plan names as insured events, which items count as building, renovation or contents, and what the exclusions are. Some plans cover named perils only, while others describe all-risks cover, and the difference can matter when you make a claim.
  • Check who can buy the plan and for which property. Owners, landlords and tenants are often treated differently, and cover for building, renovations or contents may apply to some groups only. HDB owners should also check how the plan sits alongside the compulsory HDB Fire Insurance, and condominium owners how it relates to the management corporation's policy.
  • Look at the optional extras and the services bundled in, such as emergency home assistance, alternative accommodation, personal liability or cyber add-ons. Find out what each one actually pays for, any conditions or call limits, and whether you need them. Extras can add convenience, but they also add terms to read.
  • Understand the process before you need it. Check how to report a loss, which documents or police reports may be required, how long the insurer says you have to notify it, and what the free-look and renewal terms are. Keep policy documents accessible, and ask the insurer or a licensed adviser if anything is unclear.
