AI image by LocalRankMost Singapore residents already have MediShield Life, and many add private hospital cover on top, either through an Integrated Shield Plan or a separate private medical policy. This directory lists eight insurers that offer such plans, including the seven insurers named on the Ministry of Health's Integrated Shield Plan comparison page. Plan names are given as each insurer prints them, and the order is editorial grouping, not a ranking. We do not quote premiums, benefit limits or claims figures because they change. Check current terms, exclusions and the product summary on each insurer's own site, and speak to a licensed adviser before deciding. This page is information, not advice.
1. AIA Singapore
AIA Singapore offers AIA HealthShield Gold Max, which the Ministry of Health lists among the Integrated Shield Plans and which AIA describes as combining MediShield Life, run by the CPF Board, with an additional private insurance portion provided by AIA. MOH's comparison page shows variants for Standard, Class B1, Class A and private hospital coverage. AIA's product material says policies are protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation, and AIA is among the insurers the CPF Board names for Integrated Shield Plans. Its own pages blocked automated access during research, so confirm current plan names, riders and eligibility directly on AIA's site before relying on this summary.
2. Great Eastern
Great Eastern Life offers GREAT SupremeHealth, an Integrated Shield Plan that its site describes as combining MediShield Life with additional private cover for higher ward classes at restructured hospitals and for private hospitals. The Ministry of Health's comparison page also lists a GREAT SupremeHealth STANDARD plan. Great Eastern says a supplementary plan, GREAT TotalCare 2, is available as an optional add-on and that a medical care concierge service is part of the offering. Its product page states the policy is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation. The page also says pre-existing conditions are excluded from the private portion, so read the exclusions and plan documents on Great Eastern's site.
3. HSBC Life
HSBC Life (Singapore) offers HSBC Life Shield, an Integrated Shield Plan that the Ministry of Health lists among its approved plans. According to HSBC's product page, there are three options: Plan A for private hospital standard rooms, Plan B for restructured hospital Class A wards and a Standard plan for Class B1 wards. The page also describes optional cover for selected pre-existing conditions following underwriting assessment, a claims-based premium discount feature called SavvyClaim Reward and value-added services such as telemedicine. HSBC's page states the policy is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation. Check eligibility, exclusions and current plan terms on HSBC's own site before applying.
4. Income Insurance
Income Insurance, a Singapore-headquartered insurer, is named by the Ministry of Health as an Integrated Shield Plan provider, with IncomeShield and Enhanced IncomeShield on the comparison page. Its health insurance page lists Enhanced IncomeShield and an IncomeShield Standard Plan alongside other products it names, including PrimeShield, Care Secure, Care Secure Pro, Hospital Care Insurance and a Co-Pay Assist Plan, and it also lists Integrated Shield Plans for Public Officers. Income's policy owners' protection page says it is a member of the Policy Owners' Protection (PPF) Scheme administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation. Plan availability and features change over time, so confirm exactly which plans are currently open to new applicants on Income's own site.
5. Prudential Singapore
Prudential Assurance Company Singapore offers PRUShield, which its site describes as a MediSave-approved Integrated Shield Plan available to Singapore citizens, permanent residents and foreigners, with Standard, Plus and Premier tiers. Prudential also lists PRUExtra plans, named Plus Care, Premier Care and Preferred Care, as supplementary protection and a PRUPanel Connect service of cashless access, appointment booking and concierge support at selected hospitals. Its site says the company is licensed and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and is a member of the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme. Verify current eligibility, exclusions, riders, panel arrangements and terms on Prudential's own product page before applying, and speak to a licensed financial adviser if you are unsure.
6. Raffles Health Insurance
Raffles Health Insurance is the health insurance arm of Raffles Medical Group, a Singapore-listed healthcare provider, and offers Raffles Shield, which the Ministry of Health lists as an Integrated Shield Plan. MOH's comparison page shows Raffles Shield variants, including a Standard plan, and both the MOH and the CPF Board name Raffles Health Insurance among the Integrated Shield Plan insurers. Its parent group's site publishes the insurer's contact channels, and a 2026 industry article reports a revision to Raffles Shield plans and a new rider. The insurer's own site could not be opened for this review, so we rely on those official listings. Check current plan names, riders and eligibility directly with the insurer before making any decision.
7. Singlife
Singlife, operated by Singapore Life Ltd, offers Singlife Shield, which its site describes as a MediSave-approved Integrated Shield Plan built on MediShield Life with additional cover from Singlife. The product page lists Plan 1 for private hospitals, Plan 2 for public hospital Class A wards and Plan 3 for public hospital Class B1 wards, and the Ministry of Health also lists a Singlife Shield Standard Plan. Singlife also names Singlife Health Plus as an optional rider and a Singlife Shield Starter bundle. A Singlife FAQ states that it is a member of the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme. Compare current terms, exclusions, riders and eligibility on Singlife's own pages before applying, and check which plans are open to new applicants.
8. FWD Singapore
FWD Singapore offers FWD International Health Insurance, a private medical plan rather than an Integrated Shield Plan, which its site says gives hospitalisation and surgical cover inside and outside Singapore. The site presents it for expatriates, Singapore residents and students, and says applicants must currently reside in Singapore and hold a valid NRIC or FIN. It names optional add-ons for outpatient, maternity, dental and vision care, and notes the plan can travel with you if you move abroad. FWD's page states that the policy is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation. Age limits, benefit options and exclusions are set by FWD, so read its product summary and policy contract for current terms.
How to choose
- Understand the structure first. An Integrated Shield Plan combines the MediShield Life component run by the CPF Board with a private insurance portion, whereas other private medical policies stand alone. Ask which parts of your cover come from which source, and check the Ministry of Health's published comparison before deciding.
- Check who regulates and protects the insurer. Look for the insurer's own statement that it is licensed or registered in Singapore and a member of the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme, and confirm it in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory. Keep in mind that protection schemes have their own scope and conditions.
- Read the exclusions and conditions closely. Pre-existing conditions, waiting periods, panel or non-panel arrangements and treatments that are not covered can matter more than the headline plan name. Compare the policy contract and product summary rather than relying on marketing pages or a comparison website alone.
- Look at how claims and approvals work. The Ministry of Health publishes claims processing and pre-authorisation information for Integrated Shield Plan insurers, so use it. Also check how cashless admission, letters of guarantee and panel hospitals operate, and what support the insurer provides when you need to claim.
- Treat riders and renewals as separate decisions. Premiums can be revised, riders have their own terms, and some plans are closed to new applicants while staying available to existing members. Confirm current availability with the insurer and consider speaking to a licensed financial adviser, because this page is information, not advice.
