Digging a pool, clearing a plot, laying drains or breaking up a slab all start with the right machine, and in Singapore that usually means hiring an excavator or a Bobcat-style skid loader rather than buying one. This guide lists seven companies whose own websites show an excavator or skid loader rental service with signs of activity in 2025 or 2026. We describe machine classes, operator options and attachments only as each firm publishes them, and we leave out rates because none of these sites publishes a firm price. Use the list to shortlist two or three suppliers, then ask each for a written quote that matches your site, access and schedule.

1. PLS Machinery

PLS Machinery describes itself as a family-run yard that has been buying, selling, renting and maintaining Japanese hydraulic machines since 1984. Its rental page lists excavators from one tonne up to 35 tonnes under Kobelco, Sumitomo, Kubota and Yanmar names, which makes it a useful first call when you need something small enough for a back garden or large enough for a deep pit. The same site also rents road rollers and site dumpers. It says operators are available on call and that delivery covers the whole island. Rates are given on request rather than published, so ask for a current quote and confirm which machine and attachments suit your job. Enquiries run through phone, email or WhatsApp links on its pages.

2. INA Engineering & Construction

INA Engineering & Construction says it was founded in 1988 and runs a dedicated excavator rental page aimed at contractors and project managers. Its listed machines range from a 3.8-tonne compact unit that it describes as suited to tight spaces up to 45-tonne Caterpillar models, with 7, 13, 21 and 37-tonne sizes in between. The page says machines can be hired with an operator or on a machine-only basis, with daily, weekly and monthly terms, and names attachments such as breakers, buckets, augers and grapples depending on the model. The page says delivery is by flatbed. Its wider rental fleet also covers rollers, wheel loaders and dump trucks, so one supplier can cover several machines. Enquiries go through a contact form, phone or email.

3. Koh Kock Leong Enterprise

Koh Kock Leong Enterprise is a civil engineering company with a rentals division, and its excavator page describes crawler, wheeled, long-reach and drag-line types across mini, midi, standard and large classes. The page says standard machines can take hydraulic attachments such as breakers, augers and thumb buckets, and that customers can rent one excavator or a fleet, with or without operators. It also publishes a separate skid steer loader rental page, which is the closest thing to a Bobcat-style listing among the firms here, plus tipper, vacuum and water tanker trucks and compactor rollers. That breadth may suit earthworks jobs that need hauling and compaction as well as digging. Enquiries go through its contact form, phone or email.

4. New Town Engineering

New Town Engineering calls itself a homegrown firm specialising in excavator and heavy machinery rental, and its site says it has about thirty years of experience. Its excavator page lists Kobelco, Hitachi, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hyundai and Sumitomo models, a capacity span of one to thirty tonnes, and other machine types including mini and long-arm excavators, dumpers, road rollers and skid loaders. Attachments it names include grapples, crushers, breakers, augers and magnets. The company says it can supply skilled excavator operators. A get-a-quote page, phone numbers and a WhatsApp link are published, along with Monday-to-Saturday office hours. The customers it names include landscaping, waste management, recycling and construction businesses, so ordinary site jobs are within its stated scope.

5. RRK Construction

RRK Construction & Engineering says it has traded since 2017 and presents excavator hire as its main service. Its site groups machines into mini (one to six tonnes), medium (seven to twenty tonnes) and large (above twenty tonnes) classes, naming Caterpillar, Kobelco and Sunward brands, and says its fleet runs to more than a hundred excavators. The service options it lists are machine with operator, machine with breaker, solo operator service and equipment transport. The firm also mentions supplying lorry drivers, forklift and boom lift operators and trades such as welders and electricians, which may help a small contractor who wants one point of contact. Its quote button leads to a contact page, and a WhatsApp enquiry link is provided.

6. Singland Heavy Machinery & Construction

Singland Heavy Machinery & Construction describes itself as a demolition and earthwork contractor established in 2003 that also rents out machines. Its rental page names hydraulic excavators including Kubota U50 and Kobelco SK-series models, with long-arm versions, along with hydraulic breakers and crushers. The site also lists wheel loaders and skid loaders for rent, dump trucks with disposal services, and one-tonne and ten-tonne road rollers. It says servicing and repair are carried out on site or off site, and that used excavators are sold. Because demolition and earthmoving sit under one roof, it may suit jobs where both are needed. Enquiries go through its contact page, by phone or by email, and no WhatsApp number is published.

7. Choon Huat Engineering

Choon Huat Engineering sells and rents a broad range of industrial machines, and its rental catalogue includes a skid loader category listing Bobcat S150 and S510 loaders. Bobcat accessories are listed alongside them, namely a water sprinkler, pallet forks and a sweeper. The site describes skid loader rental as a solution for construction, site clearing and material handling. Excavators are not itemised on that category page, so treat this entry as the one to try for a compact loader rather than a digger. Its contact form has an equipment rental enquiry option, and it publishes a sales phone line, a sales email and weekday and Saturday-morning working hours. Choon Huat also appears in LocalRank's scissor lift and generator rental guides, which cover different equipment.

How to choose

  • Match the machine class to the job and the access. Mini excavators are generally chosen for gardens, trenches and tight corridors, while larger classes suit pits and bulk earthwork. Tell the supplier your gate width, ground conditions and delivery route, and ask which size it recommends before you accept a quote.
  • Decide whether you want an operator or a machine-only hire. Several firms here say they can supply operators, others hire machines alone. Ask who directs the work and who is responsible on site, get the terms in writing, and ask what approvals the company holds for the work and request the paperwork.
  • Know the difference between an excavator and a Bobcat-style skid loader. An excavator digs and trenches, while a skid loader scoops, pushes and carries material across level ground. Ask which attachments, such as breakers, augers, pallet forks or sweepers, are included in the quote and which are charged separately.
  • Ask for a written quote that spells out the full commercial terms, because these firms generally give rates on request rather than publish them. Check delivery and collection, fuel, minimum hire period, working hours, overtime, breakdown replacement and who pays for damage, then compare two or three suppliers like for like.
  • Confirm the fleet and availability before you commit. Ask for the exact model, recent servicing details and a start date you can rely on, and check how the company handles a machine that breaks down mid-job. A supplier that answers quickly by phone or WhatsApp before you hire will usually answer during the job too.
