Arranging elderly day care in Singapore gives an ageing parent supervision, meals, activities and often rehabilitation during the day while family caregivers are at work. Providers range from large operators and private groups to charity-run centres, and services split into general maintenance day care, dementia day care and day rehabilitation. This guide gathers ten established, currently-operating centres and operators, each checked against its own website.

1. NTUC Health Senior Day Care

NTUC Health is one of Singapore's largest eldercare operators and runs senior day care centres across the island, offering daytime supervision, basic nursing support and group activities for ambulant and semi-ambulant seniors. The provider says its day programmes include daily exercises, arts, crafts and games, and that transport to and from selected locations within about 5km of a centre can be arranged for an additional charge. It notes that government subsidies are available through the Agency for Integrated Care, subject to means-testing.

2. St Luke's ElderCare

St Luke's ElderCare is a community eldercare charity that operates a large network of senior care centres islandwide, and describes a full range of centre-based services spanning maintenance day care, day rehabilitation, dementia care and respite care. The organisation says its centres pair wellness activities with rehabilitation and nursing support to help seniors keep living in the community. It positions its centres as neighbourhood day options rather than residential care.

3. AWWA Senior Care Centre

AWWA is a long-established social service agency whose senior services include centre-based day care, a dedicated dementia day care programme and rehabilitation day care with physiotherapy and occupational therapy. On its senior care centre page the organisation says it provides day care for individuals with multiple co-morbidities alongside support for clients with dementia, group and individual exercises and a caregiver support programme. Its dementia day care centres operate in the Ang Mo Kio and Yishun areas.

4. Econ Healthcare

Econ Healthcare is a private eldercare group that offers day care at several of its centres, describing a one-stop model that integrates day care, community rehabilitation and nursing care under one roof. The group says it also runs Integrated Home and Day Care, giving eligible seniors the flexibility of being cared for at home combined with specialised treatments at its day care centres, supported by nurses, therapists and social workers. It is one of the larger private operators in this space, distinct from the charity-run centres that make up much of the sector.

5. Ren Ci Senior Care Centre

Ren Ci is a Buddhist-founded charity that runs senior care centres offering full-day programmes for seniors who need supervision while caregivers are at work, with activities, rehabilitation and volunteer-led sessions. It says clients diagnosed with dementia can enrol in a dedicated dementia day care stream with activities focused on cognitive stimulation, and that its Integrated Home and Day Care service blends care at home and at the centre. Its senior care centres operate at sites including Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok and Woodlands.

6. Sunlove

Sunlove is a social service organisation whose eldercare services include a senior care centre with day rehabilitation, an active ageing centre and a long-running dementia day care programme. It says its dementia day care has operated since 1997 and provides a full-day programme aimed at maintaining seniors' physical and social wellbeing through occupational and physiotherapy, basic nursing care and cognitive-stimulation activities. Admission to its subsidised day care is arranged through the Agency for Integrated Care.

7. The Salvation Army Peacehaven Day Centres

The Salvation Army runs Peacehaven Day Centres for seniors, including those living with dementia, through the Integrated Home and Day Care programme that combines centre-based care with home care. The charity says its day centres provide nursing care, support with activities of daily living, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and case management, aiming to help seniors keep living in the community. It operates day centres in the Bedok and Changi areas, with admissions arranged through the Agency for Integrated Care.

8. Apex Harmony Lodge

Apex Harmony Lodge in Pasir Ris is a dementia-focused organisation that describes itself as the first purpose-built home for people with dementia in Singapore, and it runs dementia day care alongside its residential care. It says its person-centred approach draws on a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers. Its community arm, CommCare, is aimed at helping people with dementia keep building on their strengths and living in the community for as long as possible.

9. Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital Senior Care Centres

Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital is a long-established charitable healthcare organisation whose senior care centres provide day care, rehabilitation and centre-based nursing services. It says its rehabilitation offering includes physiotherapy and occupational therapy, and that its Community Care Centre at McNair was the first Active Ageing Hub of its kind in Singapore, combining day rehabilitative care with social programmes. Its centres are spread across areas including Serangoon, Jalan Besar and Potong Pasir.

10. All Saints Home

All Saints Home is a social service agency that, alongside its nursing homes, runs senior care centres offering maintenance day care and dementia day care. It says its maintenance day care provides a full-day centre-based programme for seniors who need supervision while their caregivers are at work, while its dementia day care offers full-day centre-based care for clients living with dementia. Its senior care centres sit within its Silver Lifestyle Clubs, with homes and centres in areas such as Hougang, Tampines, Yishun and Jurong East.

How to choose

  • Decide which type of day care you need: general maintenance day care for supervision and social activities, dementia day care for seniors with cognitive decline, or day rehabilitation with physiotherapy and occupational therapy, since centres specialise differently.
  • Check the practical logistics first, including the centre's location and operating hours, whether it is close enough for a daily drop-off, and whether transport or an integrated home-and-day-care option is available for your area.
  • Confirm eligibility and how admission works. Many subsidised centres take referrals through the Agency for Integrated Care via a hospital or polyclinic social worker, so ask what documents and assessments are needed.
  • Ask what a typical day involves and what staff and nursing support is on site, including how the centre handles medication, meals, mobility needs and any medical conditions your family member has.
  • Get current fees and any government subsidies in writing directly from the provider, as these depend on means-testing and change over time and are not listed here.
