A bicycle that shifts badly or brakes weakly does not need a new purchase, it needs a competent mechanic. This guide is about servicing and repair rather than buying, and it covers nine Singapore operators whose own websites describe a workshop, service centre or mobile repair route. They range from all-brand tune-up counters to a doorstep mechanic and a Brompton-only workshop. We have left out prices, because service menus change, and attributed every claim to the business that makes it. Use the entries to match your bike and routine, then read the choosing tips below before you drop it off or book a visit.

1. Tay Junction

Tay Junction, a Singapore retailer that stocks Giant and Liv bikes, publishes a bike servicing page with three tiers. A general service covers safety checks on nuts and bolts, brake and gear tuning, and chain lubrication. The half service adds a drivetrain strip, degrease and bottom bracket regrease, while the full service adds headset regreasing, frame polish, minor wheel alignment and a software update for electronic drivetrains where needed. The page gives a recommended service interval and a lead time of a few working days for each tier, and says the half and full tiers are only available at its Bukit Timah and Vertex outlets. A Punggol outlet is also listed. It suits riders who like to see exactly what each level includes before committing.

2. Bikes n Bites

Bikes n Bites describes itself as the authorised sole distributor of Cervelo in Singapore, and its service page makes clear the workshop is not limited to that brand, stating that all brands are welcome. The page lists full and half services for both road and time-trial bikes, along with a crash check, a race check and a tuning option. It describes its technicians as highly competent and suitably trained, which is the shop's own wording. Its text covers basic tune-ups of brakes, gears and tyre pressure through to drivetrain overhauls and wheel truing. Booking goes through an enquiry form on the site. It suits road and triathlon riders wanting a service menu written around performance bikes.

3. Coastline Leisure (BicycleWorks)

Coastline Leisure is better known for bicycle rental and cycling programmes, but its BicycleWorks division runs a dedicated repair page. The company says it offers servicing, installation of spare parts bought from its shop, and out-of-the-box assembly for newly bought bikes. It also advertises a pick-up and delivery option for customers who find it awkward to transport a bicycle. Its contact page lists outlets at East Coast Park, SAFRA Punggol and Downtown East in Pasir Ris, and says repairs at the Punggol outlet are arranged by calling ahead for an appointment. A separate enquiry form includes a repairs topic. It suits families, casual riders and east-side commuters who want an approachable, community-style workshop.

4. Bike Hero

Bike Hero is a mobile service that sends a mechanic to your home or office rather than asking you to carry the bike to a shop. Its site describes three doorstep service levels, from a safety check and basic tuning up to a premium service that adds washing of the frame, wheels and brakes, and says every service is insured, which is the company's own statement. It states that ad hoc repairs such as tubes, cables, brake pads and bar tape are done alongside a service. For jobs that need a workshop bench it offers pick-up and delivery. Bookings are made online or through WhatsApp. It suits commuters, apartment dwellers and anyone without easy transport for their bike.

5. Trek Bicycle Singapore

Trek Bicycle Singapore operates stores on Upper East Coast Road and in the Cross Street CBD area, and both store pages say they service bikes of any brand, not just Trek. The East Coast page states a 24-hour service turnaround with no appointment needed, and sets out three escalating packages. The first covers brake and shifting alignment, headset adjustment and a bottom bracket check, the second adds a drivetrain deep clean and wheel truing, and the third strips the entire bike to the frame for cleaning and a rebuild. It also lists a suspension service for mountain bikes and notes that replacement parts are charged separately. It suits riders wanting a clearly staged service ladder at a brand-run store.

6. Brompton Junction Singapore

Brompton Junction in Funan is the brand's own Singapore store, and its page describes a workshop for Brompton folding bikes in particular. The shop says its mechanics assess the bike first and then recommend the servicing or maintenance needed, from basic tune-ups to more complex repairs, and that it uses genuine parts from the company's London factory. It points customers to its Instagram account for information on maintenance workshops and gives a WhatsApp number for enquiries. Because the workshop is built around one marque, it is not the place for a road bike or a mountain bike. For Brompton owners, though, it is the manufacturer-run option, so it suits anyone who wants parts and advice straight from the brand.

7. Treknology3

Treknology3 is a Trek dealer whose site describes an in-house Bicycle Service Centre for all types and brands of bicycle. It says no appointment is needed, so customers can drop a bike off and leave the rest to the team, and that it is open seven days a week. A pick-up and delivery option collects bikes from a customer's home, assesses them, then follows up with the service and costs required. It also offers bike packing for overseas travel. The shop states it has more than thirty years of experience, which is its own claim, and offers a free lifetime basic tune-up for bikes bought from it. It suits riders who want a drop-off workshop attached to a long-running showroom.

8. ReEvolution

ReEvolution is a mountain-biking shop on Morse Road, and its homepage devotes a section to its workshop. The shop says it handles routine tune-ups and expert repairs, custom wheel building and suspension tuning, and that every bike it works on gets the same attention it would give its own. Its contact page invites riders to drop by the store to get a bike fixed, and also gives a WhatsApp number and an email address for questions. The shop also publishes a page of customer bike builds. Opening days are listed on its site, with Sunday marked as off. It suits trail and enduro riders who need suspension or wheel work done by people who ride off-road themselves.

9. Gcycle

Gcycle sells Dahon, Java and Sava bikes, and its dedicated bike repair page presents the shop as a repair specialist as well. The page says routine servicing covers drivetrain cleaning, lubrication, bolt tightening, gear inspection, brake checks and a safety assessment. It also lists brake and gear adjustments, wheel truing and tyre replacement, and a complete bike overhaul that involves inspecting and rebuilding the drivetrain, brakes, bearings, wheels and cables. A custom and fitting service is described too. The homepage refers to shops in Tai Seng and McPherson and gives a phone number and email address for enquiries. It suits owners of folding, hybrid and entry-level road bikes who prefer a neighbourhood shop for everyday jobs.

How to choose

  • Match the workshop to your bike. A Brompton-only workshop, a mountain-bike specialist and an all-brand service counter each suit different machines. Check that the shop states it works on your type of bike, and whether it handles your drivetrain, electronic shifting or suspension, before you carry the bike across town.
  • Read what each service level actually includes. Names like general, half, full and overhaul vary between shops, so compare the task lists rather than the labels. Ask whether bearings are opened up, whether wheels are trued, and whether replacement parts are charged separately from the service.
  • Ask about turnaround and booking. Some counters take walk-ins while others want an appointment, a form or a WhatsApp message first. Ask how long the bike will be kept, whether storage charges apply when you are late collecting, and how the shop will contact you if it finds extra work.
  • Consider a mobile or pick-up option if transport is the obstacle. Doorstep mechanics and shops with collection services save a trip, but ask what can be done on site and what has to go to a workshop. Also ask what the operator says about insurance for your bike while it is in their care.
  • Get a clear diagnosis before agreeing. A good mechanic should explain what is worn and what is optional, and let you decide. For a cherished or expensive bike, ask about the mechanic's experience with that brand, and be wary of any fix you are not able to see explained.
